Avon Park Cheerleaders Make Headlines

October 24, 2013  |  Life Beyond Cheer

Cheerleading is a great place to develop relationships with new and old friends! At Avon Park High School, Caylie Wall urged her friend, Mackenzie Riffle, to tryout for the team. Mackenzie has been dancing since she was a child, is great at splits and has Down Syndrome. After tryouts, Mackenzie was selected for the varsity squad and has been loving every minute of the time she spends with Caylie and her new friends! She cheers at all the home games and goes to practices twice a week. Coach Tammy Williams said that Mackenzie is the only special needs cheerleader Avon Park has had since she has been coaching and that she has had an amazing impact on the team. She is constantly making a difference by breaking the tension at practices and keeping the squad laughing. America Needs Cheerleaders like Mackenzie and the cheerleaders at Avon Park to make a difference and impact the lives of others.
